Mumbai or old Bombay is rightfully termed as the city of fortunes and thousands of people come to this city either in search of their livelihood or purely on visit. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai handles the major share of the tourists visiting Mumbai. An important cargo handling airport, the international terminus of the airport is located in the suburbs of Eastern Andheri and is known as the Sahar International Airport. The domestic terminal on the other hand is situated between the suburban region of Santa Cruz and Vile Parle and is known as the Santa Cruz Airport.
Trains are an integral part of Mumbai city. Known as Mumbai’s lifeline, it is the widely availed transport medium for commuting from one place to other. Mumbai is the main hub for two of the most important branches of railway- the Western Railway and the Central Railway. While the Western Railway serves the western parts of the city, the north eastern parts and the central region of the city is served by the Central Railway. Several long distance trains connect Mumbai with other states and important cities across the country. Mumbai is well linked with places like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Varanasi, Bangalore, Pune and Aurangabad.
If tourists want to reach Mumbai by bus, then also there is not a problem at all. Inter state buses are available to places like Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat. The buses leave from the State Transport Terminal which is situated just opposite to Mumbai Central Railway Station.
